Survey invites input from structural engineers on future direction
of engineering software development.
Cambashi research will investigate enhanced workflow in structural
engineering software.
Cambridge, 30 March, 2006. - Leading IT consultancy, Cambashi, has
announced the start of a Web-based survey of the structural engineering
community. As the construction industry wrestles with both the shift
from 2D to 3D CAD and the newly-instigated Eurocodes, this research
investigates the extent to which today's engineering software meets
industry's needs. The survey can be found at www.cambashi.com .
As Cambashi consultant Mark Biagi points out, "Recent developments
in analysis software have greatly enhanced the scope of structural
engineers. However, with little standardisation or integration between
the various analysis, design and detailing packages there are also
many risks."
Industry participation.
With structural engineers required to share data with each other,
as well as with architects, building contractors and clients who
may well all be using different software tools, a wide range of
data exchange issues urgently needs to be addressed.
The Cambashi on-line survey has been developed to investigate these
issues to determine the level of interest that exists in a solution
and to give practising structural engineers the opportunity to influence
the development of future solutions.
To encourage participation, Cambashi will donate $5.00 to charity
for every engineer who completes the questionnaire. In addition,
every respondent will have the chance of winning a state-of-the-art
in-car satellite navigation system.
All interested parties are invited to visit www.cambashi.com and
to follow the link to the survey. Closing date for responses is
April 7th.
